Introduction Hikes

All potential SCH members are required to go on an Introduction Hike.  The purpose of this hike is to introduce potential club members to desert hiking, hiking safety, and the policies of the Sun City Hikers. In addition, the hike gives both the potential member along with a hike leader to determine readiness to hike with the club and allows the potential member the opportunity to experience hiking in a club environment.

The introductory hike is 4 miles round trip on a trail with some rocky and/or gravelly areas and some elevation gain.  Wear sturdy shoes and bring hiking sticks (if desired) and plenty of water.

Introduction Hikes are scheduled throughout the hiking season.  Contact Nancy Andersen at (use SCH in the Subject Line) to get information about the next Introduction Hike. Introductory hikes meet at Westwing Park at the Sunrise Mountain Preserve in Peoria. Driving directions will be provided when you are given your introductory hike date.
