SCH Fall Overnight – November 18-20

The Superstition Mountains have long been a favorite place for us to hike. The problem has always been both the traveling distance to the trailheads and fighting our way through the traffic over and back. Our SCH Hike Committee agreed that heading to the Superstitions would be a wonderful fall hike destination, one that our club hasn’t done as an overnight since 2013.

Your hike coordinators have put together some wonderful hikes for you—from old favorites to new places to explore. The trails will lead you to beautiful overlooks, craggy ridgelines, along with panoramic views, unique rock formations including the famous Weavers Needle, an old mine…and more.

Our Hotels: We have reserved a block of 25 rooms—20 at the Holiday Inn Express and 5 at the Staybridge Suites. They are located next door to one another. You may register online with the links below or call the Holiday Inn Express at (480) 218-8000 and Staybridge Suites at (480) 832-7000 identifying yourself as a Sun City Hiker. We have this block of rooms being held until October 17 so please check your calendar and sign up soon! Once these rooms are gone, we have no guarantee that more will be available at this group rate. Cost per room is $139 plus tax of 14.27% per night for either a king or double queen room. Breakfast is included. If you are an IHG One Rewards member, you may use your points at either property. Within a mile of the hotels the dinner options include everything from Italian, Thai, and Mexican to pho, pizza, sushi and Rudy’s BBQ. Lots of choices!

Our Gathering Time: We will meet at 5 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday. The room location will be posted at the hotel. This is a great time to mingle, enjoy snacks provided by our Social Committee, get to know hikers whom you do not normally hike with, plus hear the important information about the next day’s hike. You do not want to miss this time together. Bring your own favorite drink.
